Royal Beginnings

Hannah Riley, Principal Conservator at Riley Textile Conservation, founded her US-based textile conservation studio in 2002.  Prior to her relocation to the San Francisco Bay Area, she spent 10 years working on the Royal Collection within the Textile Conservation Studios at Hampton Court Palace and Kensington Palace, in London.

Hannah was Lead Conservator for large-scale projects including the conservation and display of the Princess Diana Dress Collection and the conservation of the Ardibal Carpet, prize of the textile collection at the LA County Museum.  During her tenure, Hannah managed what was then the largest textile wash bath in the world -- a facility purposely designed to handle the majestic 16th-century Belgian tapestries of the Royal Collection.
